Detroit, Mich. (Nov. 16, 2009) –Mercy Primary Care Center of Detroit (MPCC) honored our most distinguished volunteer Fran Kavanaugh at the Association of Fundraising Professional’s 18th Annual National Philanthropy Day at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn.
Ms. Kavanaugh is described as “dedicated” to MPCC. “Fran is the first one to volunteer for anything at MPCC. You will see her on the front lines of every event, committee, meeting or gathering, working without stopping. She is a veritable force of nature and we couldn’t ask for a more spirited, committed, dedicated, wonderful person to work with,” read the biography in the event’s program.
National Philanthropy Day is sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Detroit chapter, and honors area philanthropists, foundations, volunteers and staff at this annual event. Over 500 guests attended the event and local awards were given out to seven individuals and foundations that make a difference in both raising money and volunteering their time to help fulfill the mission of area non-profit organizations.
We thank Fran for everything that she does for MPCC! We couldn’t ask for a more dedicated volunteer and are honored to have her support for our mission.
MPCC is a health center serving the needs of Detroit’s uninsured. Our mission is to provide a medical safety net for uninsured adults who require healthcare services to improve their quality of life. MPCC seeks to eliminate barriers to comprehensive care by providing laboratory, diagnostic testing, limited specialty care, health education, pharmaceuticals and transportation free of charge. Since its inception, MPCC has provided over 40,000 patient visits, serving approximately 1,000 unique patients. MPCC strives to treat the whole person-body mind and spirit-rather than an isolated ailment.
