It was a wonderful evening under the stars in downtown Detroit as Mercy Primary Care Center (MPCC) celebrated its mission and acknowledged those individuals and companies that have supported its ministry since its inception in 2001.
This was the largest fundraiser of its kind for Mercy Primary Care Center. “The evening was a tremendous success. It allowed our staff to engage with those who support in our mission in a different setting and for those in attendance to better appreciate and understand not only the need with in the community, but how Mercy Primary Care Center breaths hope into that need.” Aiisya Williamson, Fund Developer
The awarding of nine (9) Shooting Star awards presented by MPCC’s Executive Director, Aiisya Williamson, highlighted the evening. “A Shooting Star Award symbolizes the partnership, compassion, and dedication by individuals and organizations that have embraced the Mercy Primary Care Center mission and allows the Center and its staff to thank those who have meant so much.”
This year’s awards went to: Trinity Health, St. John Health , Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Dr. John O’Hara, Blessed Hope, Dr. Elysa Robinson, Pauline Givens, Fran & Jack Kavanaugh, and Dr. Meyers (selected by MPCC staff).
“It was so exciting to be able to acknowledge these nine recipients for their dedication and commitment to our cause. Each awardee makes a significant impact on our operation, each from a very unique standpoint. I was very excited to share with our guests how each awardee positively impacts patient care at our facility. Without these relationships, we would not be able to provide the level of care necessary for our patient population.” Aiisya Williamson, Executive Director.
The emotional moment of the night occurred when Andrea Watkins, Office Manager introduced Dr. Meyers for her Shooting Star Award. Many of the MPCC staff had tears in their eyes as Dr. Meyers accepted her award. As one staff member said, “Dr. Meyers lives for her patients, she truly deserves this recognition, its seems like she works 24 hours a day and to see her with a moment in the spot light was wonderful.”
